Saturday 3/26 - Fried Dynamite at Brook Run Skate Park
Pulled into the Brook Run skate park around 6:30 to find a large crowd and TV crew all around the park. Turns out they were filiming for the Cartoon Network's "Fried Dynamite" show. That was cool, but what was cooler is that they were letting everyone skate for free due to TV crew closing some of the park off from time to time. Bonus! A few of the regulars got to be in the show in some parts...Ray Fennessey, Shawn Coffman, etc....and Chris Coffman was featured a lot throughout (he had been there since 1 pm filming!). We joked with Chris that he was the stunt man for the show. Of course, Ray offered to be his agent....for a percentage. (haha) Well, this was the first time many of us had a chance to get back out and skate Brook Run on a wednesday due to weather (cold and/or rain) in the past several weeks. It was good to see everyone again, skate and catch up. The usual suspects showed up...Jeff(Redmenace), Woody Trend, Ray Fennessey, Shawn and Chris Coffman, Jimmy O'Brien, Wes, Roobs (injured hip but there trying!), Martin, and more. Also, we had a visitor...Alabama's own, Paul "Gyro" Gierow, was in town. It was a blast skating with him again (have not skated with him since the last Huntsville reunion like 3 yrs ago!!!). Gyro was killing it!!! Around 9:30, most everyone had had their fill. Time to pack up and head out. Ray, Shawn and Chris all head to Florida this weekend for the second contest in the Florida Bowl Riders series, so I wished them all good luck and drove back to the hotel. Already looking forward to skating Brook Run next week! Till next Wednesday night....
